Paint the Town
Since 1994, NHS has sponsored this event which helps selected residents receive a fresh coat of paint on their homes. In 2007, over 300 volunteers signed up to paint 6 homes within the communities of Central City, Deadwood, Edgemont, Lead, Sturgis and Wall. The event is co-sponsored by South Dakota Housing Development Authority's "Paint South Dakota" program, Deadwood Historic Preservation, Deadwood Home Center, and Twin City Hardware. Since 1994, over 60 homes have been painted by volunteers throughout our communities. The event is held each June in conjunction with National NeighborWorks Week.

The 14th Annual Paint the Town Event take place June 9-14, 2008. Homes will be painted in the communities of Deadwood, Edgemont, and Lead . Paint the Town events will also take place June 16-21, 2008 in Sturgis and June 24-29, 2008 in Spearfish. For information on how you can volunteer contact Michelle Eddy at michelle@nhsbh.org.
